Top five reasons individuals escape to nature:
Use natural materials: Natural materials such as wood, bamboo, and stone can create a calming and peaceful atmosphere. These materials can be used for flooring, accent walls, and other design elements to bring a touch of nature indoors.
Choose a neutral color palette: Neutral colors such as beige, white, and grey can create a sense of serenity and calmness. These colors can be used for flooring, walls, and furnishings to create a cohesive and peaceful atmosphere.
Use textures: Textures can help to absorb sound and create a peaceful environment. The Pinnacles is a perfect way of softening a space and creating a homely atmosphere.
Minimize patterns: Busy or bold patterns can be overwhelming and create a sense of chaos. By using flooring with a simple or subtle pattern, such as a wood grain or stone texture, it can help to create a sense of calmness.
Consider acoustics: Sound can greatly impact the overall ambiance of a space. By selecting flooring materials that have sound-absorbing qualities, such as cork or carpet, it can help to reduce noise levels and create a peaceful atmosphere.
The Pinnacles: Mirroring the rugged peaks of The Pinnacles, the texture in this collection creates a beautiful aesthetic and luxurious feel.
With our EcoTX™ backing integrated as part of our modular carpet tile system, ensuring that the underlay maintains its integrity to support repeated removal and installation of carpet in sections or in full, meeting both durability and environmental requirements. Our EcoTX™ is also appropriate for us in schools, classified under AS 4288 standards.
ProTile with EcoTX™ backing not only gives a more ergonomic working surface, it also greatly reduces impact noise and ambient noise.
EcoTX™ backing is available across our ProTile Range, with an average Noise Coefficient (NRC) of 0.55 to 0.65, as opposed to comparable brands in the marketplace with a NRC of 0.15.
What's more, ProTile's acoustic backing offers the same market leading characteristics in terms of durability and fire resistance and is supplied with the same long product guarantees.
The Pinnacles with EcoTX™ not only gives a more ergonomic working surface, it also greatly reduces impact noise, as well as ambient noise - vital in the hospitality sector.
Quality carpet tile backing has a huge impact on comfort and fatigue. At the end of the day those using carpet tiles with EcoTX™ will notice a big difference in the way their knees, feet, back and ankles feel. The cumulative benefit over weeks and months can have a big impact on overall health.
The benefits go beyond just physical health. An investment in Project Floors EcoTX™ backed carpet can provide dividends in the form of increased productivity and improved morale representing a quality of underlay that you would expect underneath a conventional carpet. Quality backing on your carpet tiles can reduce leg muscle fatigue by up to 24%.
For example, in educational settings, children spend upwards of 60% on the floor on iPads and other technological devices, comfort is vital to maintaining a happy learning environment.

]]>As people have become more aware of the importance of sustainable and healthy living environments, biophilic design is on the rise as more individuals and companies seek to incorporate nature into the built environment in a way that enhances people's health and wellbeing.
]]>Biophilic design is an approach to architecture and interior design that seeks to incorporate nature into the built environment in a way that enhances people's health and wellbeing. This can involve the use of natural materials, such as wood and stone, as well as the integration of natural light, plants, and water features. The goal of biophilic design is to create spaces that foster a deeper connection with nature, reduce stress, and increase productivity and creativity. It is based on the idea that humans have an innate affinity for nature and that our physical and mental health can benefit from exposure to natural elements in our surroundings. Biophilic design has gained popularity in recent years as people have become more aware of the importance of sustainable and healthy living environments.
Biophilic design is an approach to building design and architecture that seeks to connect people with nature and the natural environment. Biophilic design has been shown to:
Biophilic design in flooring is a popular trend that involves incorporating natural elements into indoor spaces. This design approach is gaining popularity because it provides numerous benefits, including improved air quality, reduced stress levels, and increased productivity.
One of the key benefits of biophilic design in flooring is its ability to create a calming and relaxing atmosphere. By incorporating natural materials, such as wood or stone, into the flooring, you can create a soothing environment that promotes relaxation and reduces stress.
In addition to its calming effects, biophilic design in flooring can also improve indoor air quality. Natural materials, such as wood and stone, are non-toxic and don't release harmful chemicals into the air. This means that incorporating these materials into your flooring can help to reduce indoor air pollution and create a healthier indoor environment.
Another benefit of biophilic design in flooring is that it can increase productivity and creativity. Research has shown that incorporating natural elements into indoor spaces can improve cognitive function, increase focus and concentration, and promote creative thinking.
Biophilic design in flooring can also enhance the aesthetic appeal of your space. Natural materials, such as wood and stone, are timeless and elegant, and can add a touch of sophistication to any interior design.
Overall, biophilic design in flooring is an excellent way to create a healthy, calming, and beautiful indoor environment. If you're looking to improve the look and feel of your indoor space, consider incorporating natural materials into your flooring to take advantage of the many benefits of biophilic design.
When it comes to flooring, biophilic design can involve the use of materials such as wood, bamboo, cork, or natural stone. These materials can create a sense of warmth, texture, and organic beauty in interior spaces. In addition to their aesthetic qualities, natural materials can also have a positive impact on human health and well-being.
One benefit of using natural materials in flooring is their ability to regulate indoor air quality. Many synthetic flooring materials emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that can be harmful to human health. Natural flooring materials, on the other hand, have low or no VOC emissions, which can improve indoor air quality and reduce the risk of respiratory problems.
Another benefit of using natural materials in flooring is their durability and sustainability. Many natural flooring materials, such as bamboo and cork, are highly renewable and can be harvested without harming the environment. These materials also have a long lifespan, which can reduce the need for frequent replacements and reduce waste.
In addition to natural materials, biophilic design in flooring can also involve the use of patterns and textures that mimic natural elements. For example, a carpet with a leaf pattern or a tile with a stone texture can create a sense of connection to nature. We're very proud of a number of our collections that mimic and draw the beautiful New Zealand landscape inside our residential and commercial spaces as shown in our Enchanted Blue carpet tile below.
Finally, biophilic design in flooring can also involve the use of natural light and views of nature. Incorporating windows or skylights can provide natural light, while views of trees, water, or other natural elements can create a sense of tranquility and calm.
Biophilic design in flooring can have many benefits for human health, well-being, and the environment. By incorporating natural materials, patterns, textures, and views, we can create interior spaces that connect people to nature and enhance their quality of life.
Why not come and visit us in our Design Hub where you can see and experience the wide range of biophilic flooring options alongside some of our design partner offerings.

But what do fishing nets have to do with flooring? At Project Floors, we’re unafraid to push the boundaries of design – we’re constantly innovating and at the forefront of the latest trends, but not at the expense of our planet, especially when there are far better alternatives.
In this blog, we dive deep into Econyl flooring – why it’s one of the best green-rated products on the market and why architects, designers and specifiers should be saying no to virgin nylon flooring altogether.
The problem with nylon
Nylon was the first fabric to be made entirely in a laboratory, signalling the start of the age of synthetics. It was used throughout World War II because of its strength and durability, and generally replaced everything that was once made from silk.
Nylon is a type of plastic derived from crude oil. It’s then put through an intensive chemical process which makes its fibres strong and elastic.
However, this process has an extremely detrimental environmental impact:
On top of all that, nylon is non-biodegradable, so it sits in landfills for hundreds of years and builds up ‘islands of plastic’ in our oceans. It’s estimated that up to 40% of man-made plastic waste in our oceans is nylon, and fishing nets are one of the most common industrial applications of the fabric.
Econyl: a full-circle alternative
In 2011, Italian synthetic textile producer Aquafil developed an environmentally sustainable alternative to nylon called Econyl to recycle and replace virgin nylon in our everyday products.
Here’s what you need to know:
The Econyl regeneration system consists of four parts: rescue, regenerate, remake and reimagine.
The system starts by rescuing waste that is then sorted and cleaned to recover as much nylon as possible.
Through a radical regeneration and purification process, the nylon waste is recycled right back to its original purity. That means Econyl is the same as fossil-based nylon.
Regenerated nylon is processed into yarns and polymers for the fashion and interiors industries.
Econyl regenerated nylon is used to create brand-new products, and it has the potential to be recycled indefinitely, without ever losing its quality.
At Project Floors, we’re committed to making a positive impact, and our challenge is to ensure that it’s beneficial now – and for future generations. That’s why we’re playing our part in recovering some of the 640,000 tonnes of abandoned fishing nets in the ocean by working with carpet tiles made from Econyl regenerated yarn.
With a growing demand for green flooring alternatives, Econyl is an eco-friendlier and more ethical source of textiles. There’s plenty of room for designers and architects to retain creative freedom while working with a product that doesn’t harm the planet, and it’s a high-quality, high-standard product that is made to last a lifetime – in the best possible way.
Looking to source Econyl for your next flooring project? Get in touch with the Project Floors team – and they’ll sort you out with a sample.
Project Floors supports Healthy Seas initiatives.

PURLINE Organic Flooring
Sustainability, design diversity, high performance
Purline is a new range of flooring exclusive to Project Floors.
As a PVC-free alternative to hard flooring, it's perfect for both commercial and residential environments, and there's a colour, pattern, and style for every project.
Here's what you need to know:
What significance does the aesthetic design of the premises play in this context?
That's why choosing warm colors is quite necessary to give you that particular feeling. Particularly striking is of course the herringbone pattern in the patient rooms. You do not see that so often in hospitals. The flooring does play an important role for the employees, doctors, nurses, and patients.
Which (general) requirements have been applied to the new flooring?
There are a number of criteria that need to be met when deciding the right flooring for a healthcare project. At the top, of course, hygiene requirements are number one. The flooring must, therefore, be absolutely disinfectant-resistant. The second condition is durability. So to speak, "on the fly" with pushed beds on castors, the flooring must be resistant to abrasion. Third, the design should fit the overall concept. Finally, the price-performance ratio has to be maintained.
What were the decisive criteria for a PROJECT FLOORS design floor?
PROJECT FLOORS is able to fulfill all four criteria hygiene requirements, durability, design, and price.

In the Corona crisis, we are in the midst of profound cultural and social changes, challenges to climate change and the decline in finite resources and raw materials. The “Architecture Resource” will be the central theme of the architecture scene in 2020, because it means creating buildings and spaces in which people will feel comfortable for a long time, now and in the future.
Inside and outside, you need quality, well-designed and future-oriented designs made of materials that have a long lifespan and are used sensibly. We at PROJECT FLOORS also follow this claim.
The topic of “sustainability” is not immediately obvious to everyone when it comes to designer floors. On closer inspection, our recyclable design floors have Less Carbon Footprint , Top Acoustic Performance, Durable and, above all,Ecological and Ergonomic.
With almost 20 years of experience, we have created a product of value and quality that lasts for decades and can be used in many areas. The combination of these product properties and the deceptively real look, For our customers, haptics and design requirements are the most important criteria when deciding on a design floor. This applies in the private environment as well as to customers who come from the healthcare sector, hospitality or the hotel industry and retail fitouts.

]]>PURLINE is a chlorine-free elastic floor covering, which is produced based on renewable and natural raw materials.
What are the ingredients of Purline Organic Flooring?
PURLINE Organic Floor is a high-performance composite material which is predominantly made from vegetable oils such as rapeseed or castor oil and naturally mineral components such as chalk.
What interactions can there be between the Purline organic flooring and other products?
PURLINE has a very good solvent resistance and is also largely resistant to alkalis. Reactions with other products are very rare. In these rare cases, reactions can occur in contact with dyed chemical substances.
What are the emissions of Purline organic floor?
PURLINE Organic Floor is (VOC) emission-free.
What are the advantages of the Purline organic floor compared to any other elastic floor covering?
PURLINE organic floor is almost emission-free and odourless. PURLINE organic floor is very easy to clean, resistant to alcohol and solvents, scratch-resistant and dimensionally stable. It shows high stability under constant loading with an excellent recovery behaviour.
How is Purline organic floor cleaned?
PURLINE organic floor is manufactured with a very hard-wearing PU top layer. The PU topcoat is extremely hard-wearing, requires little maintenance and reduces maintenance costs substantially. PURLINE organic floor is cleaned as needed at daily or longer intervals. Loose dirt can be removed by sweeping, vacuuming or damp wiping. Alternatively, for commercial applications a suitable automatic scrubber-dryer with red cleaning pad, white melamine resin pad (e.g. from 3M) or soft scrub brush can be used.
How is the chemical and solvent resistance of Purline organic floor?
PURLINE organic floor has a very good chemical resistance and is resistant to all surface disinfectants and transparent alcoholic skin disinfectants.
Is the Purline organic floor suitable for humid rooms?
Due to its very closed and wear-resistant transparent polyurethane top layer and the entire product structure, PURLINE Organic Floor is very suitable for use in damp rooms (kitchen, bathroom, laundry etc.). This applies to both the PURLINE sheeting and the PURLINE plank.
**However, it is important to note that in these areas glued products are preferable to clicked products. In the case of professionally bonded planks and sheets, moisture can only penetrate the joint areas or under the flooring after a very long period of exposure, even if the flooring is not jointed. In the case of heat welded floor coverings, the risk of damage caused by moisture penetrating from above is almost eliminated.
In plank format, the collection offers 36 attractive wood decors in the format sizes Wood XS, Wood L and wood XL. The Purline organic flooring Wineo 1500 is a polyurethane covering with a thickness of 2.5mm for gluing. The basis is Ecuran, a composite material which is predominantly made from vegetable oils, such as rapeseed or castor oil, and naturally occurring mineral components, such as chalk. The covering is produced without chlorine, without plasticizes and without solvents. It is also UV - resistant, temperature - safe, odorless and easy to care for.
A study from Pfiff Institute verified the outstandingly high quality of PURLINE organic flooring, with the study concluding that: "Its resistance to chemical and mechanical influences is exemplary, as is its environmental compatibility. PURLINE organic flooring has much lower life-cycle costs compared to all other floor coverings currently available on the market". The Pfiff Institute believes that this floor covering would be economical and practical to use.
Purline organic flooring is almost 100% resilient as a thermosetting material. Imprints on the surface of the floor, which can be caused by heavy objects, will disappear on their own within a short time. What is relevant for visitors and the atmosphere is the fact that walking on Purline is easy with joints and pedal-free.

Compared to other hard surface solutions, Project Floors LVT offers significant advantages in slip resistance and sound abatement. The sound abatement is particularly important in rooms as sound can easily transfer between floors. Project Floors LVT carries a higher sound reduction rating than many hard surface options.
Project Floors LVT offers an aesthetically pleasing flooring solution. The product looks today are more realistic than ever. A few years ago the product lines were minimal, with very few options. Now, the options are very broad and the offerings are contemporary, transitional and traditional. Almost anything you are looking for these days in LVT is available.
Last but not he least Hardwood is terrific but requires a lot of maintenance in order to keep it looking magnificent. On the other hand LVT is a terrific solution for new - builds or renovations because the labor to install is seamless and the maintenance cost is next to nothing.
Therefore, our LVT just does not help save time and cost in maintenance , but reduces sound, gives that natural look and enhances your rooms ambiance.

Urban Jungle or big city jungle. The trend topic 2019, where no one is passing by right now. No wonder. In times when climate change is omnipresent, more and more people are embracing a sustainable way of life - in harmony with nature. This also affects the entire interior design. Whether in modern hotel concepts, trendy fashion stores, in the office or at home - the green wave creates new living environments in which nature finds its way into us and we can feel at home.
We think that when style and sustainable thinking meet, that can only be good. At PROJECT FLOORS we have been working for a long time to protect the environment in the best possible way. In our last contribution to sustainability , we have already reported on how this affects the entire value chain in process and production. What makes our design flooring sustainable? It's the positive features, such as long life, complete recyclability and easy care.
But what is actually the "urban jungle trend"? And which design flooring suits the new trend particularly well? Of course, the color green naturally plays a central role in the design concept. Real plants such as cactus or palm trees, cushions with plant prints or animal accessories fit perfectly. Everything that supports the "jungle feeling" is welcome. Also beautiful are wall prints of exotic leaves or plants. White or gray walls go well with the look. Just as all natural decorative materials made of wood, raffia, rattan or linen.
That should also be reflected in the ground. Less is more here. Particularly bright, natural design floor coverings in wood look or industrial-like, grey floors fit perfectly to the new trend. With over 150 different designs, we offer the one of the largest selection of design floor coverings in New Zealand. Along with our Waitakere Range which enables a multitude of individual, creative design possibilities - also for the new "Urban Jungle Trend".
Everything that corresponds to a natural look and retreats in the color fits perfectly. The "Urban Jungle" style needs space and a stage to work for itself. Our tip: the new, Waitakere Planks create exactly this balancing act between natural charm. If you prefer creativity, choose the designs in Waitakere Range and we shall come up with a innovative laying pattern. The shades can vary from light to dark shades of gray and green. This ensures a purist foundation, on which green elements and plants are particularly beautiful.
We are not about to join a trend. "Urban Jungle" meets a zeitgeist, which we consciously support. It is in keeping with our attitude to design flooring for spaces and places where people feel good for a long time.
Let the green wave move in with you! We are happy to advise you individually and personally.
One of the things we can all do to reduce the environmental impact of the building (or part of it), is to source sustainable materials. There is quite the misconception that sustainable materials are ugly and costly, but designers and manufacturers are proving those theories wrong everyday. The design community as a whole puts great investment into the aesthetics of their sustainable products and specifying them only brings more value to the final look.
When choosing sustainable materials for your projects, consider using Project Floor's sustainable flooring materials made with ECONYL 100% regenerated yarn. Developed and produced by Aquafil, ECONYL is a nylon yarn regenerated from waste with highly reduced environmental impacts compared to virgin nylon(made from crude oil). It has the same functional properties as virgin nylon yarn, but superior environmental properties. ECONYL helps lower the environmental impact of a building and contributes to environmental certifications.
